Commission a portrait that becomes a family heirloom
A hand-painted portrait created from your photographs, with Rebecca guiding you from the first conversation to the finished canvas.
Together, you’ll select the strongest reference images. Rebecca can thoughtfully combine expressions, poses and backgrounds to create a natural, personal composition.
Portrait commissions start from $3,000.
HOW YOUR PORTRAIT COMES TO LIFE
1. CONSULTATION AND QUOTE
Share who you would like portrayed, the setting you have in mind and any important timing. Rebecca will help you choose the strongest reference photographs and prepare a clear quote.
2. COMPOSITION AND SKETCH
Once commissioned, a digital composition is developed for your approval, followed by a pencil sketch on canvas.
3. PAINTING AND APPROVAL
You’ll receive progress photographs and can discuss feedback along the way. The finished portrait is photographed for final approval before delivery.
PAYMENT SCHEDULE
A 25% non-refundable deposit confirms the commission.
A further 25% is payable when the digital composition is approved.
A further 25% is payable when the pencil sketch is approved.
The final 25% is payable when the completed painting is approved.
Each stage begins after the corresponding payment is received.
FRAMING AND DELIVERY
Framing is not included in the commission price. Rebecca can discuss suitable framing options for the finished portrait.
Packing, delivery and any transit insurance are quoted separately before dispatch. Complimentary delivery or collection may be arranged for Adelaide CBD and the Sellicks Beach area.
A PERSONAL, COLLABORATIVE PROCESS
Rebecca shares progress photographs throughout the painting and welcomes your feedback at each approval stage. Before delivery, you’ll receive a photograph of the completed portrait and an opportunity to discuss any final refinements.
WHAT AFFECTS THE FINAL QUOTE
The final fee depends on the canvas size, number of subjects and complexity of the setting. Rebecca will provide a written quote before you decide whether to proceed. All prices and quotes are in Australian dollars.
REFERENCE PHOTOGRAPHS
Clear, well-lit photographs provide the strongest starting point. You can upload several images with your enquiry, and Rebecca will help decide which expressions, poses and backgrounds will work best together.
